Pastoral Staff

In November 1955, a small group of Charlottetown families began holding meetings in the Orange Lodge Hall on Richmond Street under the leadership of Mr. Alvin Radditz and later Rev. Sheldon Myers. Within two years, the congregation under Rev. Vic Jackson moved into newly renovated premises on Harley Street in Parkdale.

The growing congregation secured property on Prince Street, and in February 1960, the new Calvary Temple was officially dedicated.

Calvary Temple has been blessed by the ministries of several fine leaders. Rev. Charles Benn became the Pastor in the Prince Street facility in 1960. Rev. Cyril Clarke arrived in February 1966 and was followed by Rev. Herman Trenholm. Under the leadership of Rev. Robert Cross, the church paid off its mortgage and continued to grow, thus initiating plans to build a new facility.

In 1978, under the direction of Rev. George Power, three acres were purchased at the intersection of Highways 1 and 2. On April 6, 1980 the first worship service was held in the new facility.

Rev. John Raymer became the Pastor of the church in 1988 and was followed by Rev. Phil Taylor from 1989 through 1993. Rev. Harlyn Purdy assumed leadership responsibilities in late 1993, pastoring the church until 1998. Under the leadership of Rev. Vaden Compton who served from 1999 until 2000, Calvary Temple paid off its mortgage.

Rev. Andrew Price accepted the call to Pastor the church in the Spring of 2001. The past few years have seen extensive renovations completed on the building and property, and a great increase in both giving and attendance. Calvary Temple now coordinates several churches in sending regular short term missions teams to Haiti. We are reaching, teaching and sending!

Calvary Summerside, a satellite extension site, was launched in Summerside, PEI in May 2004.

In 2005 we are celebrating our 50th anniversary as a congregation.

Calvary Temple and Calvary Summerside belong to the Maritime District of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
